Pac-Man will get its first full-length screen adaptation
The video game icon, the big and terrifying Pac-Man, will get its first feature film adaptation more than 40 years after the original's release. The creation of a film based on the franchise was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
According to the publication, rights holder Bandai Namco Entertainment has agreed to produce at Wayfarer Studios. The studio's portfolio includes the feature-length drama "One Meter Apart" and the Disney+ exclusive "Clouds."
The idea was directed by Chuck Williams, founder of Lightbeam Entertainment, best known for "Sonic on Film." Prior to that, for 21 years he worked at Disney as a scriptwriter, editor and producer on the animated films "Beauty and the Beast", "The Lion King," "Aladdin" and other pictures.

And Williams' own company website states that it intends to work on film and cartoon adaptations of world famous titlons. It is reported that there are already similar agreements with SEGA, Konami and Toei Animation, responsible for the anime Devilman (1972-1973), Dragon Ball and One Piece.
For Pac-Man, this will not be his first screen appearance. Already two years after the release of the original game there was a children's animated series, which was produced by the authors of "Tom and Jerry." In 2013, a three-dimensional multi-part adaptation of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures aired on Disney XD. Moviegoers first saw a cameo of the giant yellow ball in the 2015 film Pixels.
In May, they even recorded a new theme for the legendary Pac-Man to celebrate its 42nd anniversary. The action was timed to coincide with the release of a compilation of games from the iconic series.
