Too scary horror: Japan banned the release of The Callisto Protocol because of the excessive violence of Glenn Schofield's new game

Japan is known to be the home of the creepiest horror games.

Recently the British scientists made the research and found out, which of the existing games of this genre are the most frightening. Well, the majority of the scariest of them was created by the Japanese studios.

This fact makes it surprising that the Japanese rating committee CERO banned the release of the horror game The Callisto Protocol in their country!

As paradoxical as it may sound, the commission felt that the new horror film from Glen Schofield was too scary! In their opinion, The Callisto Protocol contains too many scenes of violence, mangled bodies, blood and overt violence.

CERO suggested the developers to censor the Japanese version of the game, but Striking Distance refused to do so, pointing out that if they did so, the game wouldn't fit the original concept and wouldn't give the players the desired experience.

We should note, that this game is really tough, and the first preview materials we wrote about yesterday also confirmed that this game is really tough.

Because of this situation Japanese gamers are recommended to get a refund for the pre-order of The Callisto Protocol. The developers apologize, but think that the horror should be scary.

The Callisto Protocol will be released on December 2 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series.
