Call of Duty has become a stumbling block: experts predict that the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard could fall apart

More and more often there is information in the media that the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard may not take place.

The stumbling block was the Call of Duty series of games. Obviously, the purchase of Activision Blizzard was initiated precisely because of this franchise. However, when the antitrust commissions of different states took a closer look at the deal, there were signs that it will have a negative impact on the whole gaming market.

Despite the fact that the head of Microsoft gaming division Phil Spencer (Phil Spencer) has repeatedly stated that Call of Duty will still be available on PlayStation, no documentary evidence of his words.

If Microsoft will be forced to make concessions and leave Call of Duty on Sony consoles, then the purchase of Activision Blizzard almost completely makes no sense.

At the moment the deal is being reviewed by European antitrust commissions. Microsoft hopes that they will approve the deal and it will be completed in June 2023. If the signing falls through, Activision Blizzard will receive $3 billion in compensation from Microsoft.
