Blizzard is working on the development of Overwatch 2 to give players even more content for "nothing"
One of the most controversial decisions in Overwatch 2 is definitely the game's transition to a free-to-play distribution model, with the game's updated battle pass, which requires a bunch of tasks (or grinds) to get new characters and rewards. Now Blizzard says that it wants to solve these problems in the future, developing the game in the next seasons so that players feel "more rewarded for just sitting down and playing".
"For season 3 and beyond, we're looking at a combination of changes to the battle pass, more interesting challenges, and more immersive, game-centric progression systems so that everyone, whether they spend money in the game or not, can enjoy it. We'll be able to discuss some of these changes soon, but some of them may take longer to implement," wrote newly hired executive producer Jared Neuss.
In the meantime, in Season 2, which, by the way, comes out on December 6, Blizzard will introduce its first own unique skin that can be unlocked simply by playing the game. Twitch giveaways will also continue, where you can get access to cosmetic items just by watching your favorite streamers.
