Thanks to the new driver, the performance of Intel Arc graphics cards in games with DirectX 9 will increase by 80%
Intel has released full details on the new Intel Arc driver beta, including claims of up to 80 percent performance improvements for certain DX9 games.
This should be a huge jump and if it is accurate, this update will fix an old nagging problem with Intel Arc graphics cards, namely low frame rates in some games that run on DirectX 9. Previously, the company used DX 12, using different levels of real-time translation to work with DX 9, which significantly weakened the position of its cards compared to AMD or Nvidia.
According to Intel's Tom Petersen, native DirectX 9 rendering will be added to the company's graphics cards with the new update. He also shared the results of tests in the most popular Steam game Counter Strike: Global Offensive and according to Peterson it is an epic 80% increase. As a specific example, he cites the 1080p resolution, which previously had an average frame rate of 177, and now has risen to 318.
Admittedly, in other games the increase is more modest: 54% in Stellaris, 48% in Starcraft 2 and 36% in League of Legends, but these are still not bad results, so if you have this type of video card and like to play "not the latest" games - the update is a must.
