Insider scares Bethesda fans: Starfield and Redfall are in poor technical condition for release and require significant revision
Starfield and Redfall are in serious trouble - claims insider Horns, whose 'speciality' is leaks from Bethesda.
Here's What We Know
On the Resetera forum, a whistleblower has reported that vampire action game Redfall is in a rather poor technical state, but it's still better than Starfield. The Arkane game isn't as ambitious as Todd Howard's project, so it may be able to be finished before the May 2 release date, but things with Starfield are much more serious.
Horns claims that there has been a serious disagreement between Bethesda and Microsoft over the release date of the space RPG. Bethesda management insists on more time for developers to polish the game, while Microsoft is demanding the game be released before the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2023 in the US).
The corporation is insisting on this date as its revenues have plummeted due to the economic crisis and Microsoft is urging its divisions to improve productivity so as not to upset investors.
Where this will lead is anyone's guess. It's unlikely that Microsoft will want to repeat the "success" of Cyberpunk 2077 by releasing a raw version of Starfield, but so far everything points to just that.
The same problems, by the way, have been noted with Diablo IV. The successful release of the action-RPG on 6 June looks doubtful, as the project requires serious revision.
