Microsoft alleges Sony is lying to EU regulators about its purchase of Activision Blizzard
The complex and multi-stage process of the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard continues.
All parties are trying to achieve their interests and each is making their case to the regulators.
Here's What We Know
Microsoft's Vice President of Communications, Frank X. Shaw, said in a tweet that the main opponent of the biggest game industry deal, Japanese giant Sony, is misinforming EU regulators to say the least.
According to Frank Shaw, Sony claims it has not received an offer from Microsoft for a ten-year contract to release Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles, although this is false. The US corporation has repeatedly offered cooperation to the Japanese rival and was willing to make concessions. But Sony ignored the offer, and now claims this is the first time it has heard of it.
Frank Shaw reiterated that Microsoft does not seek a monopoly in the gaming market and has no plans for Call of Duty exclusivity.
Hopefully EU regulators will sort out the evidence from both sides and make the right decision.
I hear Sony is briefing people in Brussels claiming Microsoft is unwilling to offer them parity for Call of Duty if we acquire Activision.
