Steam will stop running on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 from 1 January 2024

Valve has announced that Steam will stop working on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 from January 1, 2024.

This is due to the fact that the latest Steam features use Google Chrome, a browser that has recently been unsupported by legacy operating systems. In addition, further Steam updates leverage modern technologies only available on Windows 10 and 11.

To continue using Steam, players need to update the operating system on their PC.
