Finnish studio Remedy has presented its financial report for the first quarter of 2023 and shared information on new game development.
Here's What We Know
Compared to the previous period, the company's revenue dropped 45.4% to €6.9 million.
Remedy Entertainment head Tero Virtala is confident that future games will rectify the company's financial situation and turn a profit.
The Finnish studio is financing four big-budget projects and has five games in the works.
Briefly about the work on the projects:
- Game designers are confident that Alan Wake 2 will be released in 2023, as work on the game has moved into its final stage. The development team will gradually move on to other projects.
- Control 2 is still at an early stage of development. Experts are busy working out the details and gameplay mechanics.
- Remake of two Max Payne parts at once are in the concept approval stage. It is expected that the full production of the project will start by the end of the year.
- A cooperative game in the Control universe, codenamed Condor, is also in its early stages.
- The conditionally free-to-play co-op shooter Vanguard is in the concept approval stage.
There's a lot of work ahead for Remedy. Previously, studio executives said they planned to release one game a year. If Alan Wake 2 is released in 2023, something in the early stages of development could come out in 2024.
