Naughty Dog Studios has announced some disappointing news about the development progress of the multiplayer game in the The Last of Us universe.

Game designers understand that fans are tired of waiting for details about The Last of Us-online (the name is conditional), but noted that they are not yet ready to share information, because it turned out that work on the game will require more time than planned.
The statement says that the developers from Naughty Dog are happy with what they are doing, but want to offer gamers the highest quality project possible, so the game's release will be even later than expected.

However, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreyer has received information about The Last of Us-online from four sources, and all claim that Sony is actually unhappy with the quality of the game and recently even initiated a concept review.
In addition, according to Schreier, Naughty Dog has been assisted by multiplayer specialists from studio Bungie to fix the mistakes made by the game's main developer, who has never before had experience with online projects. The layoffs at Naughty Dog are not without their problems.
According to Jason Schreyer, there's no talk of cancelling the online version of The Last of Us yet, but Sony hasn't ruled out such a possibility.
But there is some good news. Naughty Dog has officially confirmed that they are developing a new single-player game, The Last of Us. It's likely to be the third installment in the series.
