Nintendo is probably considering releasing a film based on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

It has become known that after the impressive success of the film Super Mario Bros. Nintendo is considering the possibility of adapting its other game projects, such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kongdom.

Here's What We Know

According to renowned film reporter Jeff Sneider, who shared this information on The Hot Mic podcast, he has received insider information from a "very reliable source" that Nintendo is in the process of developing a deal with Universal to make a Zelda movie:

"Zelda will be, is looking like the next big Illumination Nintendo franchise, which again, I think we were all sort of expecting, but I’m told that that is happening and it’s costing Universal a pretty penny because of the success of Super Mario, like Nintendo kind of knows it’s worth at this point, but yeah, I’m told that that is now going to be a reality".

A co-production between Illumination (Minions, Despicable Me) and Nintendo, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has grossed over $1.3 billion at the global box office since the beginning of April.

It's the biggest film of 2023 to date, ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy. 3, which launched a month after Mario and grossed nearly $786 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
