Mario's voice Chris Pratt announces that news of the film's sequel is not far off
"In an interview with ET Online, Star Knight's Chris Pratt said that news about the "imminent" sequel to Super Mario Bros. should appear soon:
"We're in the middle of a writer's strike, so everything has been put on hold for the right reasons. I really support the WGA and our writers. When the negotiations are complete and the writers feel comfortable moving forward, then it will be time to start talking about what happens next." says Pratt, "I mean, I expected people to love it as much as I was excited about it, but it's really multigenerational around the world. People love it. They love Mario... It's a really fun, funny, sweet, touching film, and, my God, I can't believe I'm a part of it."
A joint project between Illumination and Nintendo, The Super Mario Bros Movie has earned over $1.3 billion worldwide since its release in early April. This high amount means that the film is ahead of Frozen ($1,284,540,518) and remains second only to Frozen II ($1,453,683,476) on the list of the most profitable animated films of all time.
