Valve has decided to put an end to one of the long-standing traditions of the Dota 2 community.
Here's What We Know
The developer has announced that it will stop releasing the Battle Pass, which has always been released shortly before the biggest tournament, The International.
Cosmetic kits will continue to be released, but the company will focus on releasing major gameplay updates, such as New Frontiers, which was released in April and fundamentally changed the Dota 2 than delighted players.
Valve has justified its decision with two talking points:
- According to the company, not many players were buying Battle Pass, so the developers decided not to release it.
- When working on the updates, Valve will no longer be bound to the timeline and certain restrictions which were imposed by the format of the Battle Pass.
However, thematic updates will be coming out before The International, but the old name (Battle Pass) will be dropped.
