Microsoft is raising the price of Xbox Series X consoles and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions
Microsoft has long put off raising the cost of its consoles and services, but the decision has been made: gamers will soon be paying more.
Here's What We Know
According to The Verge, Microsoft will raise prices for the Xbox Series X in most countries in August, with the exceptions being the US, Japan, Chile, Brazil and Colombia.
The Xbox Series X in Europe will cost the same as the PlayStation 5 at €549.99 (€50 more).
In Canada, the price of the console will rise to 649.99 Canadian dollars, while in Australia it will go up to 799.99 Australian dollars.
The Xbox Series S console will not increase in price, it will cost the same $299.99 in the US and €299.99 in Europe.
The Xbox Game Pass subscription price will change, albeit slightly:
- The monthly subscription will go up from $9.99 to $10.99 (€10.99 in Europe and £8.99 in the UK).
- A 1 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription will cost $16.99 instead of $14.99 in the US;
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will cost €14.99 in Europe and £12.99 in the UK.
PC Game Pass subscriptions will remain unchanged.
In most countries for existing Xbox Game Pass subscribers the changes will take effect from 13 August (from September 13 in Germany).
The price for new subscribers will change as early as July 6.
