The head of Larian Studios has explained why releasing add-ons for Baldur's Gate III will be an almost impossible task. The rules of the Dungeons & Dragons board game are to blame for the problem

After the resounding success of the RPG Baldur's Gate III, it would be logical to assume that Larian Studios would want to take advantage of the great interest of players and release several add-ons.

Here's What We Know

The head of the development studio Swen Vincke told PC Gamer that no DLC is planned yet.

He explained it by the fact that in Baldur's Gate III the maximum level of player characters is limited to the 12th. According to the rules of the board game Dungeons & Dragons, on which the Baldur's Gate franchise is based, characters above level 12 have divine abilities and become too powerful for players to meet worthy resistance. Because of this, releasing an add-on for Baldur's Gate III will be a difficult task, as the game designers need to come up with enemies that won't die at the snap of the fingers of such powerful heroes.

Another obstacle will be the sheer number of endings of the main game. There are so many of them that it will be impossible to competently and organically connect the events of the game and the add-on.
