Honda suspended three Passport TrailSport's from a crane to prove their durability

What better advertisement for an SUV than to show that its tow loops will support twice its weight? Honda decided not just to tell you that, but to demonstrate it by suspending three new Passport TrailSport (2026) Passport TrailSports from a 140-foot (42-metre) crane.
Here's What We Know
The TrailSport is one of the fourth-generation versions of the Honda Passport. It gets 31-inch all-terrain tyres, specially tuned suspension, steel underbody protection plates and, of course, sturdy towing loops. To prove their reliability, Honda tied the three TrailSport's together, drained all the fluids and lifted them into the air.
In the air, Honda says the front bumper of the first TrailSport was about 100 feet (30 metres) off the ground and its towing loops held more than 14,000 pounds (6,350 kg).
Designed for off-road driving, pickup trucks and SUVs often have open loops to help get them out of a tight spot. However, Honda has gone a step further and designed the TrailSport's front hitch points with added safety in mind. These metal components have an innovative design that allows them to break away in the event of a frontal collision.
Pricing and packages
The 2026 model year Honda Passport is already available for sale in the United States. The base RTL version is priced from $46,200. The TrailSport and TrailSport Elite versions are priced from $49,900 and $53,900 respectively.
