Apple begins selling iPhone 14 assembled at Foxconn factory in Brazil - price $520 below foreign-built version

According to media reports, Apple has started selling locally assembled iPhone 14 smartphones in Brazil. The main advantage is the lower price.

Here's What We Know

One Brazilian user bought an iPhone 14 with the BR/A identifier and the "Assembled in Brazil" mark. Versions assembled in China are sold in Brazil marked BE/A or BZ/A.

The main advantage of smartphones assembled at Foxconn's Brazilian facility is their price in the local market. A user bought an iPhone 14 with 128GB of RAM for $995. The "imported" version of the smartphone in the base configuration costs around $1520.

Apple has its own interests in launching Brazilian production of the iPhone 14. It will reduce dependence on China amid rising tensions between Chinese and US authorities. Also, strict quarantine restrictions in China due to COVID-19 are not having the best effect on smartphone sales.

Naturally, Apple cannot completely abandon the assembly of smartphones in China. However, some models of the iPhone 15 series will come off Foxconn's "Indian assembly line" in 2023.
