Henry Cavill is leaving The Witcher after Season 3: Netflix has already cast the lead actor
Despite the fact that season 3 of The Witcher series has not been released yet, the streaming service Netflix has already renewed it for a fourth season. But fans of Andrzej Sapkowski's bestselling series are in for a big change.
Here's What's New About It
We no longer see Henry Cavill as Herald in season four as Liam Hemsworth, known from such films as Hunger Games, The Last Song and Independence Day: Resurgence, replaces him.
Why Cavill left the series is not made clear in the Netflix release, but it may have something to do with his return to playing Superman in the DC Comics movies.
"My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men", Cavill said.
At the same time, Hemsworth is excited about his new job:
"As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character".
Season 3 of The Witcher is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2023, with a spin-off series called The Witcher: Blood Origin set to premiere before then on December 25, 2022.
