Epic, drama and explosions: Universal Pictures unveils 5-minute video showcasing new scenes from Oppenheimer
Universal Pictures has released a first look at Oppenheimer, one of the most anticipated films of this summer, directed by Christopher Nolan.
Here's What We Know
The 5-minute video begins with a black-and-white scene where Lewis Strauss, played by Robert Downey Jr. after World War II, is trying to understand from Robert Oppenheimer, played by Cillian Murphy, how dangerous a weapon he created.
Then we are shown how the "father of the atomic bomb" Oppenheimer gathers his team at the beginning of the Second World War and proposes to build the town of Los Alamos, far from civilisation, where the best engineers and scientists were engaged in the creation of the first atomic bomb.
We can also see the feelings of Robert, who understood that no one would trust him and the US government with such a weapon, but they needed a weapon that would end the war. And as we all know in the true history of mankind, this is exactly what happened when in August 1945 the United States dropped two atomic bombs, Fat Man and Little Boy, on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
I don't know if we can be trusted with such weapons, but I know that the Nazis could not.
In addition to Murphy and Downey Jr, the film will also feature Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Gary Oldman, Florence Pugh and others.
