The infection is spreading: The Last of Us creator says season 2 is "ready to launch" and full of surprises
The creator of the acclaimed "The Last of Us" franchise, Neil Druckmann, gives us new insights as we await season two and even hints at a third instalment of the game.
Here's What We Know
The head of Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, shared his thoughts with Entertainment Weekly, stating that new episodes of "The Last of Us" are ready to grab our attention once again. The second season is waiting to spread like a mushroom infection once the strikes in Hollywood are over.
The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and Isabella Ramsey, quickly became one of the most talked about shows of the year, and its audience grew almost every week on the premium channel. The project was popular not only with viewers, but also with the Television Arts Academy, which honoured the series with 25 Emmy Award nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Drama for Pascal and Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Drama for Ramsey.
"We've outlined all of season 2 and we're ready to go as soon as the strike ends," says Druckmann about the start of filming for the continuation of the series.
When asked about the highly anticipated third video game in The Last of Us series, however, he smiles.
"As far as the next game at Naughty Dog, I can't say anything. My comms director over there will slaughter me."."As far as the next game at Naughty Dog, I can't say anything. My comms director over there will slaughter me."- he replies.
A little earlier, in an interview with the same Entertainment Weekly, the show's showrunner Craig Mazin confirmed that he had already developed a script for season two even before the writers and actors strike in Hollywood began.
"I think it's becoming essentially a near certainty that we won't be able to start [filming] when we were hoping to start, which is upsetting. We are all raring to go. This is what we are born to do. This is how we not only choose to live our lives, but I believe [how we] are compelled to live our lives. Otherwise, why the hell would we do this insane job? I can assure you it's not for money."
When We Can Expect It
For obvious reasons, no release date for season two, or at least no date for filming to begin, has been set.
