The Crow's new film will be "anti-Marvel" and offer a new perspective on superhero films
The Crow film reboot will not be a typical superhero film. During an interview with Deadline, producer Sam Pressman stated that the project is not at all what comic book fans are expecting.
Here's What We Know
The Crow will star Bill Skarsgard and will be directed by Rupert Sanders, the director of Ghost in the Shell.
It is stated that this is the latest attempt to revive the franchise. An updated version of "The Crow" has been in development for a long time and has gone through a series of projects that were first approved and then cancelled. "The original 'The Crow,' starring departed actor Brandon Lee, first saw the light of day in 1994, and a sequel was released in 1996, followed by two more direct-to-DVD sequels in 2000 and 2005," said Sam Pressman.
"We’re finally at a point where we can really explore those other avenues because it’s such a unique property in that it is not a studio film, it’s not a Marvel film – it’s kind of an anti-Marvel film" Sam Pressman said.
However, this latest version of the film appears to be gaining momentum, and despite the lengthy reboot process, the studio is actively seeking to capitalise on the project.
"The Crow has been a very central and integral part of our company and I’m really proud of the progress and the work that has been done" Pressman said. "I think the movie is just going to blow people away. Our partners want to approach it in a very 360 way, whether it be video games, an animated series, or a universe, but it’s got this cosmic legacy that can expand beyond a singular story."
The film tells the story of a brutally murdered man who comes back to life as the undead, avenging the murders of him and his fiancée.
When We Can Expect It
The Crow's release date is set for 28 March 2024, 30 years after the first film.
