The digital and 4K release of the Blue Beetle movie is coming as early as next week: dates, prices and exclusive bonuses
This month, fans will have the chance to buy Blue Beetle - the film's digital and physical 4K release dates have already been confirmed, and additional bonuses have been revealed that will reveal filming secrets and reveal more about Jaime Reyes' adventures.
How Much Does It Cost?
Starting 26 September, "Blue Beetle" will be available for premium digital viewing at $24.99 for purchase or $19.99 for a 48-hour rental via PVOD on participating digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu and more. From 31 October, physical media collectors will be able to purchase "Blue Beetle" on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD. The 4K UHD version, which includes a digital copy, will cost $29.99, the Blu-ray + digital version will cost $24.99, and the DVD only version will cost $19.99.
It is currently unknown when "Blue Beetle" will join DC's other projects on Max.
Also, the release of the physical edition of "Blue Beetle" on 4K UHD and Blu-ray includes some bonuses:
- "Generations: Blue Beetle," a four-part documentary about the actors and directors who created "Blue Beetle." It's a look at the filming process through the eyes of the creators, who show their experiences on set and in creative workshops.
- A short movie called "Nana Knows Best" about Nana's transformation into a revolutionary, as well as a few scenes from her funniest moments during filming.
- A two-part film called "Scarab Vision" hosted by Xolo Maridueña, the lead actor. The actor gives a guided tour of the scenes, showing how the bug works and the role it plays in some of the epic moments in the film "Blue Beetle".
Here's What The Movie Is About
Directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer based on DC characters, "Blue Beetle" was released in theatres on August 18. Despite low box office receipts, the DC film performed well in the eyes of critics, receiving a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film centres on Xolo Maridueña, who plays the role of Jaime Reyes, a DC comic book hero who merges with an alien bug, gaining superpowers.
Recent college graduate Jaime Reyes returns home, full of ambition for the future, but finds that his home has changed. Seeking his place in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient artefact of alien biotechnology: the Beetle. When Beetle suddenly chooses Jaime as his symbiotic host, the boy is endowed with an incredible suit with amazing and unpredictable abilities that changes his destiny forever.
