End of the Snyderverse: Zack Snyder's Justice League will be disbanded - Momoa, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller and others will not return to their current roles in the DCU

According to a new report from Variety, the actors who were recruited by Zack Snyder for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Justice League" will no longer be playing their roles in James Gunn and Peter Safran's reimagined universe.

Here's What We Know

Since James Gunn and Peter Safran, as co-chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, are ushering in a new unified DC universe with the start of "Superman: Legacy," none of the actors picked up by Snyder will be recreating their original characters in the re-imagined DCU. This includes a superhero team consisting of Superman played by Henry Cavill, Batman played by Ben Affleck, Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller).

However, it is noted that the cancellation of the current roles does not preclude the actors from returning. According to Variety, talks are currently underway with Jason Momoa regarding his involvement as Lobo, and there is a possibility that this will happen in "Superman: Legacy" in 2025. This film will feature new incarnations of Superman and Lois Lane in the DCU, with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan playing their roles.

The only characters from previous DC projects that don't appear to be affected by the change are those from Peacemaker. From this we can deduce that Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, will return, with her own series already in development. In addition, John Cena will return in the second season of Peacemaker.

As a reminder, Jason Momoa will once again appear on the big screens as Aquaman in the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will be released on 20 December this year.
