The Equalizer 3 continues to perform well at the box office with $176.7 million despite a digital release
Robert McCall, played by Denzel Washington, knows how to hold the lead at the worldwide box office with $176.7 million in box office receipts.
Here's What We Know
The trilogy of films about an ex-Marine from director Antoine Fuqua has been excellent since the first instalment. While it seems that Sony's "The Equalizer 3" will not be able to surpass its two predecessors at the box office, the film is still profitable worldwide, expanding into new territories, seven weeks after it began rolling out in U.S. theatres.
The film's cumulative worldwide revenues now stand at $176.7 million, with $86.1 million of that coming from international markets. Last weekend, the film generated $5.7 million in overseas revenue, reaching 57 markets on more than 4,900 screens. The Equalizer 3 debuted in all significant global markets this week following its release in Mexico.
Significant international box office figures include the UK, where the film earned over $9 million, followed by Australia with $6 million, Spain with $4.7 million, the Netherlands with $2.9 million and Italy with $1.9 million.
Here's What The Movie Is About
In the first two instalments of the film series, McCall is faced with the desire to get away from his old ways and keep his loved ones safe. In the final chapter, he heads to Italy, eager to shake off the burden of his former days and make new connections while enjoying a quiet retirement. However, fate is unpredictable and when his cosy corner of the world comes under threat from the local mafia, a new cycle of fighting for justice begins.
When We Can Expect It
