The C-3PO droid from the Star Wars film saga has become perhaps one of the most recognisable characters not only in George Lucas' films, but in the film industry as a whole.

Actor Anthony Daniels, who played the role of the golden robot, decided to auction costumes, props and scripts, which were kept in his collection for several decades.

Here's What We Know

Among the "artefacts" there was the C-3PO helmet head in which the actor starred in the first 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope in the Tusken Raiders attack scene.

This item aroused a huge interest of collectors and for him managed to get $ 843 thousand dollars, although before the start of the auction it was expected that the price for the head of C-3PO could reach $ 1.2 million.

From the auction sold and the original script of the third edition, signed by George Lucas photo album and fingers C-3PO.

The actor himself commented on parting with his rarities:

I realised that I have all these things stored away, and it's not that they're not loved, but they're not paid attention to, and we don't want them cluttering up the living room. Will I be sad to part with them? No. I'll enjoy the fact that people will cherish them and put them on display.
