Spyglass Media fired Scream star Melissa Barrera from Scream VII after her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas conflict
Melissa Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter in both Scream 2022 and this year's Scream VI, has been dropped from the franchise after publishing a series of social media posts related to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Here's What We Know
The actress was previously set to return in the sequel alongside Jenna Ortega in the upcoming Scream VII. However, Variety reports that Spyglass Media Group dropped Barrera because of her Instagram posts that "crossed the line" and were perceived as anti-Semitic:
"We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech."
The actress' war-related comments were shared by many X and Instagram accounts:

Immediately after news of Barrera's firing spread, Scream VII director Christopher Landon said that the decision to fire Barrera was not his, but the studio's. The director posted this statement on his social media accounts, calling Spyglass' decision "sucked," but that post was later deleted.
Not much is known about "Scream VII" at this point, except that the film will be directed by Christopher Landon, who will helm the film in place of Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
