The long-awaited live action game based on the Naruto anime is still in development: A screenwriter for the project has been officially appointed
The screen version of the Japanese manga "Naruto" has received an unexpected update, almost a decade after the project was first announced.
Here's What We Know
The project was announced by Lionsgate Studios back in 2015, but since then there have been almost no updates. Now, according to Variety, Tasha Huo will be the screenwriter for the Naruto film. This update is a promising step in the development of a project that seemed to have been forgotten.
The original 72-volume Naruto manga, created by Masashi Kishimoto, was published from 1999 to 2014 in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine. It was later adapted into an anime, which was released in two parts from 2002 to 2017.
The upcoming film is set to be a feature-length adaptation of this anime. Other than the fact that it will be about the young ninja Naruto Uzumaki, and that the script is being written by Huo, not much is known about the film yet.
After working on "The Witcher: Blood Origin," Huo will also be the showrunner of the "Lara Croft" anime for Netflix, in which Hayley Atwell will voice Lara Croft. She is also writing the script for the upcoming film "Red Sonja," which will offer a new take on the comic book character.
