Hayao Miyazaki's Japanese animated film "The Boy And The Heron" has topped the box office in the US
The world of Japanese animation was once again at the top of the US box office. Immediately two films from the Land of the Rising Sun were in the top 3.

The first place went to the animated film "The Boy And The Heron" directed by Hayao Miyazaki, which collected in North America from 10 to 12 million dollars.
"The Boy And The Heron" is based on the 1937 Japanese novel "How Do You Live?" and tells the story of a boy named Mahito Maki who discovers an abandoned tower in his new town and enters a fantasy world with a talking grey heron.
The film was highly praised by film critics and attracted attention for its unique marketing campaign, built on the hype around it being Hayao Miyazaki's first project in a decade and supposedly being his farewell creation.
The second place went to The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which grossed $8.75 million, boosting its national box office total to an impressive $134.9 million. The film continues to show outstanding staying power and receive positive reviews from audiences.
The third position in the ranking is held by another Japanese project, Toho's sci-fi film Godzilla Minus One, with earnings of $6.4 million in its second weekend.
