Godzilla Minus One conquers new highs on Rotten Tomatoes, setting a record for viewer ratings in franchise history

"Godzilla Minus One," directed by Takashi Yamazaki, boasts the best audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes of any film featuring the murderous kaiju.

So far, the film has an audience score of 98%, knocking down the old record of 94% held by 1995's "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah." However, "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah" still holds an advantage over "Minus One" in Tomatometer's estimation. As of now, critics have rated "Minus One" at 97%, while "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah" is still in the lead with a perfect 100%. That 100% should be attributed to the fact that the score of "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah" is based on 6 reviews, while "Godzilla Minus One" has 111 reviews so far.

In addition to the record breaking "Godzilla Minus One," the "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" series on Apple+ continues to quench the thirst of kaiju fans with new episodes every Friday.

Godzilla will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year, and Legendary's MonsterVerse will continue to expand with the release of "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." We'll see if the upcoming film manages to break the records of "Godzilla Minus One".
