Netflix is working on an anime adaptation of one of the One Piece creator's earliest stories
Netflix is currently prepping a film adaptation of one of Eiichiro Oda's stories that he wrote almost a decade ago.
Here's What We Know
Eiichiro Oda may be best known as the creator of the One Piece series, but his creative legacy doesn't stop there. Now, Netflix is screening one of his first stories, which takes viewers into the past of one of One Piece's prominent characters.
The project is titled "Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation." The story centres on Ryuma, a legendary swordsman who was resurrected during One Piece's "Thriller Bark" and gained popularity among manga fans. Along with Ryuma appear Freya, a young girl who survived a dragon attack, and another swordsman, Cyrano.
This one-shot manga was first published in October 1994 - three years before One Piece began - and was later included in a collection of short stories by Oda in 1998.
MONSTERS: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation by Eiichiro Oda tells the tale of Ryuma, the legendary swordsman that hails from the Land of Wano in One Piece.
