'Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes' could be the start of a new trilogy
The film's director, Wes Ball conceived Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes as the beginning of a big new story that takes place 300 years after Caesar's reign.
Here's What We Know
According to the director's idea, "Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes", does not continue the series of films, but re-shapes it, promising the audience something unique. It is a kind of new stage in the evolution of the iconic series, promising to be as valuable to a wide audience as all the previous films.
Boll stated that if "Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes" performs well, two more films will definitely be made.
"From the beginning we thought about this as a trilogy" - says Boll. "We had these grand ideas of where it could ultimately go and how it could fit into the legacy of these movies. So I’m certainly talking to [the studio] right now about the next story".
Here's What The Movie Is About
The film is set some 300 years after Caesar led his fellow humans to the promised land. With the passage of time, his legendary leadership skills have been all but forgotten, the humans have gone feral and many ape clans have emerged. The leader of the apes, Proximus, twists Caesar's legacy to enslave the other clans in search of the last traces of human technology. However, Caesar's legacy and the principle of "apes are strong together" remain key for Noah, the new young ape hero played by actor Owen Teague of "IT" fame. Noah embarks on a dangerous journey with a young girl named May to change the future fate of both apes and humans.
