The first "Twisters" trailer debuted during the Super Bowl
28 years after the original 'Twister' film was a box office sensation, audiences will once again be plunged into the world of tornado chasing. In the meantime, we've been given a trailer for the upcoming sequel "Twisters," which is being directed by Lee Isaac Chung.
Here's What We Know
"It's important to note that 'Twisters' is not a reboot of the original film, but it's also not a direct sequel.
"It's definitely not a reboot" Glen Powell, who is at the head of the cast, said. "We're not trying to recreate the story from the first one. It's a completely original story. There are not characters from the original movie, so it's not really a continuation. It's just its own standalone story in the modern-day".
Here's What The Movie Is About
The original film tells the story of Jo. The girl lost her father as a child to a tornado, which was the impetus for her career in meteorology. She and her husband Bill develop a device called Dorothy for tornado research. While working on the project, their marriage is on the verge of falling apart, but they have to coordinate to complete the research. Eventually, they encounter a powerful F5 tornado and manage to trigger the final device, saving their lives and gaining valuable data to analyse.
Powell is joined by Daisy Edgar-Jones in the title role. The film also stars Katy O'Brian, Kiernan Shipka, Maura Tierney, Anthony Ramos, Sasha Lane, Brandon Perea and new "Superman" star David Corenswet.
When We Can Expect It
"Twisters" is due in cinemas on July 19, 2024.
