The Mickey 17 film from the director of Parasite has been delayed until 2025
The upcoming film starring Robert Pattinson has been given a new release date.
Here's What We Know
"Mickey 17" from Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-Ho has already become one of the most anticipated films of 2024, despite the lack of a trailer or advertising campaign.
Originally, the film was scheduled for release on 29 March 2024, but last month Warner Bros. Studios removed "Mickey 17" from the premiere calendar, replacing it with "Godzilla x Kong: the New Empire".
When We Can Expect It
Now, "Mickey 17" is scheduled for release on 31 January 2025. The postponement will supposedly only benefit the project and allow more time for refinement after last year's strikes in Hollywood, which put the film's production on pause. Also, the change in premiere date will ensure that "Mickey 17" can be released in IMAX format, which was not possible on the original dates due to busyness with other projects.
Here's What The Movie Is About
"Mickey 17" is based on the novel "Mickey7" by Edward Ashton. In this story, Mickey7 is presented as "expendable": a replaceable crew member of a human expedition to colonise the icy world of Niflheim. Whenever an overly dangerous or even suicidal mission arises, the crew turns to Mickey. After Mickey7's death, his memory is partially restored in a new body. After six deaths, Mickey7 begins to realise the terms of his agreement... and realises why this colonial position has remained unoccupied by anyone else.
Starring Robert Pattinson, the film also stars Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.
