Following the departure of David Litch, the new "Jurassic World" will be taken on by "Rogue One" director, Gareth Edwards

It was recently revealed that Bullet Train creator David Leitch has turned down the directing job on Jurassic World. Now it is reported that the project will be directed by the director of "Rogue One", Gareth Edwards.

Here's What We Know

In addition to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," Edwards worked on 2014's "Godzilla," and his most recent work is listed as the sci-fi film "The Creator," which didn't make a big splash at the box office but received critical acclaim and praise for its striking visual effects.

According to published information from THR, Litch has turned down directing the film after realising that his creative input would be minimal. Universal reportedly wants a stronger influence after his experience with "Jurassic World Dominion," so Litch is confident that the job will be more about following clear instructions than authoring.

The next fourth instalment of "Jurassic World" (and seventh in the entire Jurassic franchise) will be a new chapter for the franchise as a whole, meaning it won't involve any of the characters from previous instalments.

The upcoming film is still untitled and plot details are being carefully kept secret.

The script for the fourth instalment is being written by David Koepp - he collaborated on the original Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

When We Can Expect It

Filming is scheduled to begin this June, with a planned release date of July 2025.
