It's happening: Warner Bros. announces release schedule for the Harry Potter series

Well, fans of the Harry Potter world, get ready for some magic, because the Harry Potter series will hit screens in 2026 - and that's just the beginning of "a decade of new stories," as Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav promises. Discovery's David Zaslav.

Here's What We Know

In addition to announcing a "decade of new stories" in the Wizarding World, Zaslav expressed his excitement about the upcoming show, and also noted that he's not at all shy about his aspirations to develop the Harry Potter franchise, especially since the last film was released a decade ago.

The head of Warner Bros. Discovery also said that it has already held talks with the author of the book series J.K. Rowling and her team, noting that the conversation was very fruitful and both teams are very excited about the upcoming work on the legendary story.

"I was in London a few weeks ago with [HBO boss Casey Bloys] and [Warner Bros’ TV’s Channing Dungey] and we spent some real time with J.K. and her team. Both sides are thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max."

When the Harry Potter series was officially announced in 2023, the Max service outlined its plan for the series as follows: "The stories from each of Rowling’s Harry Potter books will become a decade-long series produced with the same epic craft, love and care this global franchise is known for".

It was also said that the series would introduce a new cast. Each season of the series will be faithful to the original books, while the original films will remain the foundation of the franchise and will be available for everyone to watch.
