HBO has renewed the series True Detective for Season 5
HBO has officially renewed the series "True Detective" for a fifth season and appointed Issa López, who served as showrunner of the fourth season of "True Detective: Night Country", as the head of the project.
Here's What We Know
At this point, it is unclear whether the fifth season will be a standalone story or continue the theme of the fourth chapter, which became the most popular in the series, by the way, thanks to the efforts of López. Despite criticism from series creator Nic Pizzolatto, Issa Lopez managed to garner huge attention for Night Country, leading to a record setting 12.7 million viewers on HBO.
As part of the new multi-year agreement, Lopez will also create new content for HBO and Max.
As a reminder, "True Detective: Night Country" stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis as detectives who must face the darkness within themselves and uncover the secrets hidden beneath the eternal ice to solve the disappearance of eight men working at the Tsalal Research Station in Ennis, Alaska.
