The Oppenheimer film reportedly made Christopher Nolan a huge amount of money and that amount will only continue to grow
"Oppenheimer" has reportedly brought Christopher Nolan a real success, topping the Oscar nominations and succeeding both critically and commercially. The director received a huge payout for the film, which will only continue to grow.
Here's What We Know
According to Forbes, Nolan earns 15% of the base box office receipts and every cent the film raises before Universal Pictures studio recoups its costs. The total is roughly $72 million before taxes and after commissions to Nolan's agent and attorney ($85 million). But that amount isn't final either. The director's income will continue to grow after "Oppenheimer" is licensed for home viewing and sold to streaming services.
"Oppenheimer" turned the Oscar ceremony into a coronation of sorts. The film racked up 13 nominations, including best film and best director. It is predicted to become the highest-grossing Oscar winner of the past 20 years, grossing nearly a billion dollars in global cinemas, making it the third highest-grossing film of 2023 and the second highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Recall, the American Academy Awards ceremony will take place tomorrow, Sunday, 10 March.
