Motorola Adaptive Display Concept: a 6.9-inch display that can also be worn as a wristband
At MWC 2024, Motorola unveiled the Motorola Adaptive Display Concept smartphone, which redefines the boundaries between smartphones and smart watches. The concept device has now been publicly shown off, shedding light on its unique features and capabilities.
Here's What We Know
The device features a 6.9-inch flexible FHD+ pOLED screen that can take different shapes. One of the distinguishing features of the Motorola Adaptive Display Concept is its ability to easily adapt to different usage scenarios. The device can go from a standard flat smartphone to wrapped around the wrist so that it can be worn like a smart watch. The smartphone also has other useful shapes. For example, the bottom of the screen can be bent backwards, creating a stand for conveniently watching video calls or reading emails. In this position, it transforms into a more compact form with a 4.6-inch display suitable for autonomous operations.
The concept device's display technology allows for dynamic adjustments based on its shape and orientation. For example, when bent and worn as a smartwatch, the interface automatically switches to a smartwatch layout, optimising the user experience for use on the wrist.
There are no detailed specs yet, but it is known that the battery is made up of multiple segments to allow for flexibility. The back panel is made of a material reminiscent of a sports bracelet.
Although the Motorola Adaptive Display Concept has made significant progress in development, Lenovo emphasises that it is still an early-stage project and not yet ready for mass production.
