Microsoft is going to launch advertising in the Microsoft Store
Microsoft has started to encourage software developers to use ads in the Store, which allows developers to improve the placement of their apps in the store. In its blog post, the company says that the ads are designed "to help developers grow their business by showing their apps or games to the right customers at the right time in the form of ads," but it should be noted that similar to Adnroid and iOS, this has been a rather negative experience.
We've known about in-store advertising for a long time - Microsoft wanted to launch it back in May 2022 and published a message about its deployment in January. But now it's telling developers that they can use the system to promote the launch or update of their own apps. According to the company's website, the ads will appear in the Microsoft Store app on Windows in search results and on the Apps and Games tabs:
In general, we could already see similar ads in the Apple Store or Google Play, but at the start, Apple "scalded" when it started showing ads on the application page itself, where, for example, gambling was often advertised on the page of an app to overcome gambling addiction, etc. So far, Microsoft doesn't seem to have gone that far, but we'll see what happens next.
