Cortana, goodbye! Microsoft to stop supporting voice assistant
Microsoft has announced that it is ending support for Cortana on Windows. The company says that it will "no longer support Cortana on Windows as a standalone app" starting later this year.
Here's What We Know
The end of Cortana support for Windows was actually expected news, as Microsoft announced at the Build conference in May that it was introducing a new tool called Windows Copilot that would be available in the taskbar. Powered by artificial intelligence, this new tool will provide advanced features including content summarisation, text editing, questioning, and computer settings.
Cortana was first introduced by Microsoft in Windows 10 in 2015, allowing users to set reminders, open apps, and ask questions through voice commands. However, over the past few years, Microsoft has gradually limited the use of Cortana in Windows. With the release of Windows 11, this digital assistant lost its visible presence in the taskbar and no longer appeared during the initial setup of the system.
The exact date of Cortana's removal from Windows is not yet known.
