Indonesia has ordered a second batch of fourth-generation fighter jets manufactured by France's Dassault Aviation. The country's air force will eventually have more than 40 Rafale aircraft.

Here's What We Know

Indonesia has decided to order 18 more Rafale fighters under a contract that was signed last February. Thus, the country will eventually have 42 aircraft in service.

The deal was announced by Dassault Rafale on its official website. The amount of the agreement is not specified, but in the spring it was reported that the purchase of an additional batch of 18 Rafale fighters would cost Indonesia about $2.6bn.

Dassault Aviation notes that the first option for six aircraft was approved in September. The agreement, in addition to the Rafale fighters, includes full maintenance and the launch of several aviation education projects in Indonesia.
