Change of heart: OnePlus will not update OnePlus 11R smartphones for 5 years

We recently wrote that the new OnePlus 11R smartphones would receive an extended support programme, namely operating system updates for 4 years and security patches for 5 years. But it turns out that's not the case.

Here's What We Know

The extended support was announced on Twitter by the OnePlus support team at the time. Now, however, the staff has released a new statement reporting a mistake. According to them, the OnePlus 11R will have a standard update timeline: 3 Android versions and 4 years of security updates.

The support team added that the new extended update policy is for "selected devices". At the moment, only the OnePlus 11 is included in this list.

Hi! We would like to clarify about our previous tweet, we offer 4 years of android updates and 5 years of security updates on selected devices. For #OnePlus11R, the device will receive 3 years of android updates and 4 years of security updates. Apologies for the miscommunication.
