HIMARS destroyed for the first time a very rare 9S36M detection and target designation station from the Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system
The Ukrainian Defence Forces have destroyed a very rare target. It is the 9S36M detection and target designation station.
Here's What We Know
9S36M is part of the Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system. Air defence system is a very rare target. According to Oryx analysts, the Ukrainian Defence Forces were only able to destroy the 9S18M1 surveillance radar station.

It is equipped with an antenna that extends to a height of more than 20 metres. The station is capable of simultaneously dealing with 10 targets travelling at speeds of up to 3 km/s.
In addition to the 9S36M and 9S18M1, the surface-to-air missile system includes a 9A317M tracked self-propelled firing unit, 9A316M launcher, 9T243M transport and loading vehicle and 9S510M command post. The air defence system counters threats with 9M317M missiles. The launcher is armed with 12 missiles, while the firing unit carries half as many missiles.
