HIMARS destroyed a 9P138 launcher of the rare Grad-1 multiple launch rocket system with a precision hit

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have managed to destroy a rare multiple rocket launcher. It is called "Grad-1".

To be more precise, the Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed the launcher 9P138. In addition to it, the multiple launch rocket system includes a 9E450 transport vehicle. The launcher has 36 rails and uses a ZIL-131 lorry as a chassis.

"Grad-1" can use several types of 122.4 mm calibre munitions, including those with a cluster head. The range of fire is from 1,500 metres to 15,000 metres. The time of a full salvo reaches 18 seconds.

A Grad-1 launcher was destroyed by a GMLRS precision-guided munition in Donetsk region. According to Oryx, the Ukrainian Defence Forces had earlier eliminated four 9P138 Grad-1 combat vehicles. In comparison, the BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers were destroyed more than 100 units and about three dozen more were captured.
