A $500 Ukrainian FPV drone made a neat landing inside a T-72B and burned a Russian tank
The Ukrainian Defence Forces have demonstrated an unusual way of destroying a Russian T-72B tank. This was done by an FPV drone operator from the aerial reconnaissance group "Birds of Madyara".
Here's What We Know
Recently we wrote how an FPV drone delivered explosives to the hatch of a T-80BV tank, and then flew away and filmed the detonation on video. This time the drone was used as a kamikaze. It was able to carefully descend inside the T-72 through an open hatch and destroy the Russian tank.
T-72s are very much a part of the battlefield. The most common version is the T-72B. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed or captured approximately 400 combat vehicles that were built in the Soviet Union.
In addition, Oryx analysts recorded at least 238 losses of T-72B3s of the 2016 model and almost 340 older T-72B3s that were built after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In total, the Russian army has lost more than 1,100 T-72 tanks in various modifications in almost 19 months.
