Ukrainian drone bomber threw grenades at Russian modernised T-80BVM tank
A drone armed with grenades destroyed a modernised T-80BVM tank. This happened two days after Russian propaganda showed a story about the new version of the combat vehicle.
Here's What We Know
The tank was completely destroyed by aerial reconnaissance drones of the 27th separate brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. The drone with grenades proved that even the most modern version of the T-80BVM tank explodes and burns.
We wrote about the plot of Russian propagandists a few days ago. The newest version of the T-80BVM has a roof that is supposed to provide protection from US Javelin anti-tank missiles and grenades dropped from drones.
The Russians are now trying to upgrade older T-80 tanks to the BVM level. The upgrade brings a 1,250 horsepower GTE-1250 engine, a Sosna-U sight, a 2A46M-4 cannon and the Relikt dynamic defence.
Nevertheless, the loss of more than 600 T-80s in various modifications during the war in Ukraine, makes the Russians think about resuming tank production. According to Oryx, since February 2022, the Russian army has lost at least 96 T-80BVM tanks, almost the same number of T-80U, over 400 T-80BVs and about 30 other modifications.
