FPV drone ripped a camouflaged Russian 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer into two pieces
A Ukrainian drone destroyed a 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer. The camouflage did not help.
Here's What We Know
The video shows that the self-propelled artillery unit was hidden between trees and covered with camouflage netting. However, this did not save it from being hit by an FPV drone. With an accurate hit, the drone ripped the target in two.
The 2S1 is a Soviet artillery piece that began production over 50 years ago and lasted for several decades. During that time, the Soviet Union produced more than 10,000 howitzers with the 122mm calibre rifled gun.
According to Oryx analysts, the Russians have lost more than 80 2S1 self-propelled howitzers since February 2022. Most of them were destroyed, but about a dozen artillery systems managed to be captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
