A $500 FPV drone has hit the latest 2S40 Flox self-propelled howitzer, a day after the Russians officially announced deliveries to the frontline
The Russian 2S40 "Flox" artillery unit has lived at the front for one day. At least, if we believe the information about the delivery dates.
Here's What We Know
On 5 October 2023, Rostec announced the transfer of the first batch of 2S40 Flox self-propelled artillery weapons to the Russian armed forces. The next day the first howitzer was hit by the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
2S40 "Phlox" became a victim of a Ukrainian kamikaze drone. The $500 FPV drone tracked down the enemy cannon and struck the aft section. The extent of the damage is not drowned out, but it is possible that the artillery section is disabled.
The new artillery system is positioned by the Russians as both a howitzer and a mortar. For this purpose, it is equipped with a 120 mm cannon that can fire artillery shells and mines.
