HIMARS destroyed a Russian TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system with thermobaric missiles that can scorch areas of 40,000 sq.m
The Ukrainian defence forces have destroyed another Russian TOS-1A system. The US HIMARS missile system was used for the destruction.

One high-precision guided projectile GMLRS, which has a launch range of 80 kilometres, was enough to destroy the heavy flamethrower system. The video of the hit was published by the Security Service of Ukraine.

The statement said the system was destroyed in the Zaporizhzhya region along with its crew and full ammunition. According to Oryx analysts, this is at least the fifth liquidated TOS-1A since February last year. In addition, at least one system was damaged and three others became trophies of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The TOS-1A is a development of the TOS-1. The heavy flamethrower system appeared in the last years of the Soviet Union. It uses thermobaric missiles of 220 mm calibre with a launch range of up to 6 km, which hit an area of up to 40,000 m2.
