Starfield's online peak on Steam has surpassed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but Fallout 4 is still a long way off

Since the announcement of the space RPG Starfield, it has been constantly compared to another Bethesda hit, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Not only the gameplay and general qualities of the games are contrasted, but also the public's interest in them.

Here's What We Know

In the first weekend after the release of Starfield, the peak online in Steam was 314 000 people. By this parameter, the space game surpassed Skyrim, which had a maximum of 287 000 simultaneous players.

For Starfield to become the most popular Bethesda game in Steam, it needs to surpass Fallout 4. Recall that the post-apocalyptic role-playing game had a peak online of 472 000 gamers.

However, with the high popularity of Starfield, the game Todd Howard is still far from the indicators of the main competitors of this year - Baldur's Gate III (875 thousand) and Hogwarts Legacy (879 thousand). Much of this gap between Starfield and other 2023 hits is due to the game's release on the Game Pass service, it seems that most players chose to play the game there rather than on Steam.
